Dear Sir/Madam,
I invite you to take a moment and read this important
message:
We
are Sabrina Ulrich and Rosemary Ulibarri, co-owners of
My Daughter’s Closet Boutique. Together with your
help and the assistance of other organizations, we are
putting together a program to help our struggling single
mothers with children, women who attend school/college
and need a helping hand, women enrolled in rehabilitation
programs or being released from jail, women referred from
domestic violence shelters, disabled women or women suffering
from illnesses or on social security, disability or AFDC.
“Address
Your Life” program, we believe, will help restore
some self esteem, sense of pride, accomplishment and dignity
in the women above-mentioned.
What we propose is this: Through the
generosity of schools, career institutions, churches,
referral programs, hospitals, jails, and other organizations,
these women will be given a “voucher” from
their referring organization. The voucher would be “redeemed”
at My Daughter’s Closet, and these women can shop
to the limits set by the referring organization.
“Address my life”, program
will allow these women the independence to choose their
clothing, choose their shopping day, choose their color,
style, size and design, arming them with a choice and
freedom they wouldn’t have otherwise. Behind a dignified
person, stands the shadow of success.
Although programs currently exist, such
as clothing banks and donation organizations, they do
not “address” the issue of allowing the individual
to feel “real self-worth”. They simply provide
items that no one else wants. While it is a wonderful
concept and helps many people on a daily basis, clothing
banks should be a stepping stone for progress. First they
are given donations to help them through the toughest
times, and then they are shown how to plan, choose, shop
and budget. Through repetition and guidance, they will
soon be ready to fly their own course. This is what we
envisioned when the idea of “Address Your Life”
was first born. It is the second step… towards dignity.
If given the opportunity, most would
choose the freedom and appreciation one feels when shopping
for themselves. Instead of the women receiving discarded
clothing, they can come into My Daughter’s Closet
boutique and shop like “regular people” do.
Because we are a women’s consignment boutique, they
can shop economically for not only new and gently used
clothing articles, but also for, accessories and small
nick knacks for the home. More importantly the can get
out and converse with other women, share stories and experiences
and come out and join the rest of the world in living
the life that was intended for them, and not just exist
in a category they have been placed in by others.
You may choose to sponsor as many recipients
as you like or just one. The voucher amount is whatever
limits you and your organization would like to set. Since
we are a consignment store, our prices fit today’s
economical challenges. We will accept the voucher or your
organization can be back-billed. You can set up your own
criteria as to who qualifies. You can institute an on-going
program, or you can do a “one time” award.
You can award the vouchers based on, progress, growth,
responsibility, graduation, etc. We are open to any suggestions
as My Daughter’s Closet is new to this arena as
well.
We are a consignment boutique, which
means we accept gently used and new clothing from individuals
on a daily basis. We then pay a percentage (35%) of the
final sales to our “consignors”, or offer
50% in-store credit. We are new owners and are anxious
to serve our community, bring about change and help our
struggling economy in any way we can. Our small boutique
and prices reflect our mission, and that’s why we
believe many organizations will jump on board in helping
My Daughter’s Closet lift the, “Address Your
Life” program to existence. We look forward to adding
your name as one of our sponsors. “Address Your
Life” has dual meaning; it’s about “dressing”
your life with all the shapes, colors and styles tailored
for you. It’s about taking charge of your life and
making the right choices that “fit” your new
existence.
Please feel free to call us if you have
any questions or would like to visit us at My Daughter’s
Closet. We can be reached at: (623) 872-9483 and we are
open from Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. Drop by
any time.
Respectfully,
Sabrina Ulrich & Rosemary Ulibarri,
Co-Owners of My Daughter’s Closet
